Other uses for this medicine
Pindolol is sometimes used to prevent heart attacks. In some countries, pindolol may also be used to treat arrhythmias and prophylaxis of acute stress reactions.
However, it is important that you talk to your doctor about the possible risks of using this drug for your particular condition.
Investigational use of pindolol:
Augmentation therapy of clinical depression - If the patient fails to respond to the standard therapy alone (fluoxetine is the most commonly used standard antidepressant), pindolol is added to this therapy. The results of augmentation therapy are encouraging, despite that it is not known whether pindolol has antidepressive activities as a monotherapeutic agent.
